Whether we work with an individual athlete, coach, team or other system, we see our work as a collaborative partnership with the client. We will conduct a thorough assessment of concerns and difficulties as well as identify what is working well. Because no coach or athlete performs in a vacuum, we seek to identify all sources of potential stress or places of improvement to enhance performance. After we develop an understanding of the difficulties, we seek to refine existing skills, increase problem solving, enhance coping abilities, and teach new skills. Throughout the process we seek feedback from our clients. When it is time for the working relationship to end, we evaluate the progress made. We also invite the client back after six months for a booster session to reevaluate and consolidate gains. We stress flexibility in our work. Often individual meetings will be as short as one-half hour but may go as long as 90 minutes. Group, team work or seminars may range in length from 45 minutes to several days. |
